Besides Charles Bridge, the other obligated attraction in Prague is the Old Town Square, which you may reach easily by subway. Among the various buildings from the 13th century, the Old Town Hall Tower is the landmark of the city, built in 1338. St Nicholas Church stands at the other side of the river: it is the main building in the whole neighbourhood of Mala Strana, built between 1704 and 1756 on the remains of a demolished gothic church. Another attraction in the proximity of the Botel is the National Theatre: it holds an important signification among the Czechs, as it was the first theatre where Czech was spoken in 18th century`s Prague. Its construction was begun in 1868, and after a fire that destroyed the stage and the auditorium, it was finally completed in 1883. |
