Travelling by Tram in Prague

In Prague trams (tramvaje) are the first public mean of transport (used by some 300 million people a year) as about 500 km of tracks cover its streets. We suggest you not to miss Prague's most scenic tram lines which are tram 22 and 23 running from Prague centre up to the rear entrance of Prague Castle, passing by the National Theater to Staromestská and Malostranská metro stations.

There are 24 lines which run during the day from 4:30 am till midnight every 8 minutes during peak hours, every 10 minutes in the mornings and about every 8-15 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays. During night time service is provided by 8 night lines which run from 00:30 to 4:30 am in 30 min. intervals. The central interchange point of night trams is at Lazarská.

Tram schedules are located at individual stops and tickets can be purchased at any tobacco shop, at ticket offices and ticket machines at metro stations, as well as at information centres, newsagents and hotels. We suggest you to buy transfer ticket which are a little more expensive than the non-transfer ones, but can be used also on metro and buses and are valid for 75 minutes from validation (90 minutes on working days from 08:00 pm to 05:00 am and on Saturdays and Sundays).
