A brief history of the house:
The House "U Zeleného věnce" (By The Green Garland) stands in Old Town just in romantic center of Prague, where history has left many interesting memorials. The oldest SE-part of the house (cellar) contains rests of Romanesque basements which was probably a part of bigger Romanesque farmstead situated around a big house. Historical records from the half of the 12th century and also the archeologic research show this farmstead as a glory of the Prague's Romanesque structure. The ground floor (left E-side) is Gothic and comes from the 14th century during a big housing development in the course of the Emperor Charles IV.

During the years 1433 - 1463 the house was significantly improved. A remarkable Renaissance rebuilding on the second half of the 16th century appeared and later on some Baroque changes (W-part of ground floor) in the 18th century. There is a long list o owners of this house. The first historical record comes from 1411 (Rehor Westwal). Several famous aristocratic celebrities (Sliks and Kaplirs) lived here. Early in the 18th century the famous Italian architect Giacomo Antonio Canevalle (one of the co-workers on the Bethlem's Chapel) also was the owner. At the beginning of 20th century the famous Cyech authoress Ružena Nasková lived here. This house is one of the magnificent sights protected by the government (marked as 2 stars from the maximum of 3 stars).
